  • RM967 Deceleration Lanes. WSB finalized the 30% preliminary design in January 2024. City Council reviewed the revised preliminary design on Feb. 6, 2024 and approved the proposed design. Final design began in late-March 2024. Read more >>

  • Sidewalk Gap Improvements: Cabela’s Drive. The project was presented to the Bond Committee on Jan. 22, 2024, and City Council on Feb. 6, 2024. After evaluation and feedback, the sidewalk gap along Old San Antonio Road was removed from the scope of work. The sidewalk gap along Cabela’s Drive is at 90% design level and engagement with property owner(s) for dedication of easements is underway. View the preliminary plans here. Read more >>

  • Main Street East Extension. City Council reviewed and approved the preliminary design on Mar. 19, 2024. WSB is also designing an interim solution to the Main Street improvements to alleviate congestion and traffic back-ups at IH-35 at Main Street. City Council reviewed and approved the preliminary design of the interim solution on Nov. 28, 2024. The interim solution is in final design and bidding will likely occur this summer. Read more >>

In Parks & Recreation Projects

  • City Park Parking Lot. City Council awarded the construction contract to most qualified low bidder, Harris Road Company of Wimberley, Texas, for $603,943.83. Two parking lots were awarded. The North Parking Lot will include 70 parking spaces, and the West Parking Lot will include 51 spaces, totaling 121 new parking spaces in City Park Parking Lot. The contractor began construction of the parking lots in late-January 2024. Base material has been placed, and a concrete curb has been constructed. Asphalt and parking lot striping occurred in April ahead of Buda’s Birthday events. The projected substantial completion date is May 2024, weather permitting. Read more ››

  • Buda Acquires Parkland as Part of Enhancements for Garison Park. The City of Buda recently acquired 4.5 acres to add to the future Garison Park. The property, located at 901 Garison Road, provides the City with continuous access along Onion Creek where Garison Park will be constructed as part of the 2021 Proposition B Bond Program. The original, approximately 40-acre Garison Park property was purchased in 2016 to create a unique recreational experience for City residents and visitors that will include water play, access for non-motorized watercraft, fishing, hiking, bird watching, and more. The Onion Creek Trail, another 2021 Proposition B Bond Project, will also traverse the Garison Park property, eventually linking The Colony at Cole Springs to Stagecoach Park by a trail that will run along Onion Creek. The purchase of the property was made possible through the support of Hays County. The Commissioners Court pledged up to $900,000 for the purchase through the Hays County 2020 Parks Bond. In 2021 the Buda Bond propositions passed with over 60% of voter approval, indicating strong support for a safe, accessible, and active community for all. The City of Buda is now working to bring these projects to life by scoping and procuring firms for design. Bond projects also are being assessed based on their eligibility for potential local, state, or federal grant funding. Learn more ››
