The goal of this project is to address congestion during peak traffic times and improve the 3-way stop with potential accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians. This project is also identified in the City’s Transportation Mobility Master Plan.

Current Status:

  • The City of Buda has evaluated options for improvements to the Overpass Road and FM2001 intersection. The Bond team made a request to TxDOT to consider removing the 3-way stop at Overpass Road and FM 2001. TxDOT has approved the request, and after the new signal at Overpass and Firecracker Drive (outside City limits) is installed, the stop signs on Overpass Road can be removed. The stop sign on northbound FM 2001 will remain.

  • The new signal at Overpass and Firecracker is active. Prior to the 3-way stop change, the City plans to install emergency vehicle warning signs on Overpass Road near the FM2001 intersection. Emergency vehicle warning signs will be installed by Summer 2026. Then, the 3-way stop change is anticipated to occur near the end of calendar year 2026.
