RM967 Right Turn Lane AT FM1626
Project Status
A new right-turn lane will be constructed on RM967 from Canyon Wren Drive to FM1626. The addition of this right-turn lane will accommodate westbound traffic and mitigate queuing from the intersection of FM1626 and RM967. During the preliminary and final design phases, the City of Buda will coordinate and engage with potentially impacted residents, businesses, and property owners to participate in the planning process.
Contracted Firm: WSB
Current Status:
Analysis of traffic, turning movements, and future growth is complete. WSB presented the proposed right turn lane to the Bond Committee on Nov. 20, 2023 and Jan. 22, 2024. An additional westbound lane is recommended along RM967 between Canyon Wren and FM1626.
A public and neighborhood meeting was held on Dec. 4, 2023 at the Garlic Creek Amenity Center. Stakeholder input has and will shape and guide the project as the project moves into final design. View Public Engagement Report
WSB finalized the 30% preliminary design in January 2024. City Council reviewed the revised preliminary design on Feb. 6, 2024 and approved it on June 4, 2024. Final design began in Summer 2024 and is currently at the 95% design level. Final design is expected to be completed by late Summer 2025.
This project is within the current TxDOT right-of-way. The project also requires a permit from the TCEQ. The construction of the additional travel lane is on hold until the right-of-way is turned over to the City of Buda and the TCEQ permit is submitted and approved.
